Functional Freedive Training in Ocean

Join us as we train our minds and bodies to dive at depth on a single breath!

Virtually all levels welcome, although participants MUST have some snorkeling/scuba experience and be comfortable in the open water. This meetup is in two parts, please review schedule.

8:00 a.m.- meet and greet on beach, establish levels of experience, assign buddy system, begin lecture on freedive theory and technique. Topics covered will include Pranayama (yogic breath control), Valsalva and Frenzel techniques, human anatomy of diving, equipment design and of course proper freedive SAFETY!
9:00 a.m.- set out from beach in our human powered watercraft to Ft. Lauderdale Reef, anchor up and start getting comfortable in the water, practice safety rescue drills and then set our guide line and start putting the techniques into practice!

1.You MUST have a human powered watercraft (kayak, paddleboard, etc) to join this event. Our sponsor Sunrise Paddleboards has agreed to provide rentals at a discounted rate, should you require a craft.

2. You MUST be present for the safety and technique portion of this event (@8:00 a.m.), otherwise you cannot join the group on the water. This is for everyone's safety.

3. You must have some snorkeling/scuba/freediving experience. No need to be an expert, but I want everyone comfortable in the water and know the basics of using mask, fins and snorkel!

4. Max depth for this event will be 40 feet (12 meters).

5. We are paddling out to reef, diving for a little over an hour, then paddling back in to shore, so that cardiovascular system will be working. Expect this event to be a bit of a workout!

Hey guys, I'm down here on the beach, and the conditions are too rough. Blown out (east wind@18 mph), so it's going to be a struggle to get off shore. Looks like we have to do it another time!
