Only 30 minutes from Philly, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) will be hosting their annual "Cooking for Kids Sake" tasting event on Wed night (Feb 19th) at the Mansion in Voorhees NJ. Come sample a variety of foods in the south Jersey area, including Monsoon Indian cuisine (halal), Lai Thai, Pasta Pomodora, & many more at one of the most popular banquet venues in south Jersey - all for a great charitable cause. Tickets are $50. & can be purchased at www.cookingforkidssake.org. The proceeds from the ticket sales support the programs used to help the personal development of kids coming from disadvantaged homes. There is also a silent auction happening there, which is optional to participate in.**As members of the Islamic community, we have reason to take a special interest in this group. How many Muslim families might there be in our area going through a difficult time, whose kids could really use a mentor? And how many times do those families shy away from asking for help from a group like BBBS simply because they do not feel comfortable having their child mentored by someone outside of the Islamic faith? How many of these Muslim kids grow up lacking the personal & social skills it takes to succeed in the competitive business world in the US? Building a connection between the local Islamic culture & the BBBS group is an important step, an investment in our young peoples' futures. By simply buying a ticket & coming to this event, you will be helping make a tremendous first step in building an important, & much needed connection between the local Islamic community & BBBS. If you take part in no other charitable cause this year, I sincerely hope you will consider supporting this one:) The plan: Meet at the front entrance of The Mansion at 7:00pm. (If some people need to come later due to work schedules, we can be flexible because the event is from 6:30 - 9:30pm). You can stay for whatever length of time you feel comfortable with. Parking: There is free valet parking, or you can drive around to the back & park on your own. Coming from Philly: Take the Ben Franklin Bridge, follow the signs for Cherry Hill/Rt 70. You will eventually see Wegman's grocery store on your left; at this point, make a right onto Grove St. Then a right onto Kings Highway, & then a left onto Haddon Ave. You will eventually make a left onto Evesham Rd. After you pass Holly Oaks Rd & Classic Cake, you will make a right onto Main St. The Mansion is the large white building on your left. Also, if anyone would like to take the Patco train from Philly, just plan to get off at the Ashland station, & I can pick you up there. The train ride would be about 20-30 minutes. If anyone does the train option, please message me ahead of time so we can coordinate.
