This is an open, welcoming social group for those who feel cutoff or isolated in the modern world of the internet and geographic separation, and want to reconnect on a regular basis with others in their local community, for the purposes of sharing food, stories, music, conversation, play, and any other element of life that can benefit from direct human interaction, which was once provided for by the village/tribe/extended family, but has become harder to hold onto in an age of geographic mobility and independent living.

This is an intrinsically and explicitly welcoming group, and is open to people of any age, economic situation, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, relationship status, pattern of eating, etc...

Our events will be great for people who feel a need to connect with others in geographic proximity to themselves through a medium other than phone, facebook, email,and twitter. This can take many forms, including coming together to share a meal, a night of games, excursions to parts unknown, music, stories in the night, camping, pondering the universe over tea, roadtrips, walking, sitting together in a coffee shop, general silliness, what have you; but always in person, and with the intention to foster communal bonding in the physical place we share as a home, the South Jersey region.

Modern culture provides some of us with good opportunities for social interaction with friends and family.  Some of us have that need satisfied by our spouse and children, others by a large local family who are seen on a regular basis.  Others get it through their work, and still others get it through a hobby or the bar scene.  Many of us though, are single adults living on our own, work a non-traditional job, don't enjoy the bar scene, or have interests and hobbies outside the mainstream.  We eat our meals by ourselves, spend lots of time watching television or on the internet, and see our biological families sporadically.  Many of us get the sense that this isn't a natural state for human beings.  We enjoy our alone time on occasion, but we feel a deep need for regular face to face interaction with other flesh and blood individuals -- That's who this meetup group is for.  Let's get together around the village fire (literally or metaphorically as you like =)  ) and meet up as people in a community.

Singles, Couples, Families, and those that don't identify with those categories.

Folks with traditional 9-5's and folks with odd work schedules.  We'll schedule some of our events during the weekday daytimes, evenings, weekends, whenever is necessary.

Anyone who is experiencing a lack of fulfillment from the available local community, including but not limited to people living alone without a strong social group, counter-culturally minded people, geeks of all stripes, those seeking a non-traditional family of choice, folks who just need a hug, omnivores, verbivores, vegetarians/vegans, creative types, the artistically challenged ;), and any other group you'd care to add.  Let's meetup!!
