The meetup was wonderful! Had a great time! Nora is always a great hostess! She makes everyone feel welcome, capable, and successful. Very talented musicians there, and super nice people! Good food, too.

    • Nora

Thank YOU for the kind words, Carol! You bring a genuine warmth to gatherings, and it's so inspiring to hear your own songs. B.t.w, I believe you might have left a 'shortie' guitar stand? Someone did- you, madame? This time, it is safe here in my home 'til we arrange it back to you. (If it's yours- did you leave it? 'twas right by the chair you were sittin' in). Cheers!

Beautiful day. Wonderful gathering. Thank you Nora. Sorry I could not stay for whole thing, but St. Pat's Day is a pretty big one in my life, and I ended up triple booked. Next meet-up I'll clear the day so I can get to know people better, jam more, and eat some of that wonderful fare. I did have corned beef and cabbage later, so all was not lost! Nora, I left my black chair. Will retrieve in next time or maybe when I pass by in the meanwhile . . . Terry

Hi, Terry- always nice to see you- such a lovely voice and diversity in your music. Nice to chat with you for just a bit there. Thanks for coming, even though you had such a big day. As well, thanks for clearing up the ownership of that mysterious chair! We'll get it back to you one way or another, soon. Take care!

Loved it, thank you Nora! And thank you to my fellow Jammers for your tolerance in allowing me to consider "Green Green Grass of Home" an Irish song ;-)

Love your spirit, Jonathan- so glad you've joined our group! You bring a lot of spunk, heart, and humor to things, and there's no question that your voice can be heard above 35 instruments at full throttle. Thanks, and ck w/ your wife re: your considering hosting. We'd love to crash your pad! Cheers! n

A new thing, to combine two jams- one inside, one out- and PARTY, to boot. In all, I think it went pretty well, considering most folks stayed for hours. Truly a pleasant, invigorating day, thanks to all who came and participated.

    March 11, 2013

    • Nora

ANY "stuff" you want to bring is welcome! I mentioned "green stuff" on Don's request for what to bring- and that was a bit humorous- but it's not for me to ask for anything beyond what a person feels is important for them to bring, financially/ creatively/ time-wise. Bring what you wish. :>)

My favorite Van M song is Into the Mystic. That one is a must do. There's another one I love about the right side of the road ( I don't remember the exact title) Moondance is great but kind of overdone. It stoned me might work. Way too many choices.

    Nora and SPAMmers Jammers,

I just downloaded a great, free PDF songbook of 22 favorite Irish folk songs. You can request the download at the following link, and the download link will be sent to you at your email address:

    http://www.bellandcomusic.com/i...

It's really well done, very neatly in the format we're all used to. It includes the songs I've been looking at bringing to the party, to wit, Whiskey In the Jar, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, and That's An Irish Lullaby, and 19 more!

I hope all of you will get this book and bring it with you on Mar 17.

    February 26, 2013

    • Nora

Well, we're probably all wild artist/ musician types, so we're certainly not necessarily as organized as some, but this is a wonderful addition- I will download it and make some use of it before the date, I promise! Thank you, Jay! Yay!

      February 26, 2013

  • Nora

duh- I almost forgot that I used to play Irish Celtic dulcimer. I'm going to have to practice on it before this jam! It's quite quiet, so I may have to mic it. Dulci-mer= Sweet water. Sigh.

Two Irishmen, Patrick Murphy and Shawn O'Brian grew up together and were lifelong friends. But alas, Patrick developed cancer, and was dying. While on his deathbed, Patrick called to his buddy, Shawn, "O'Brian, come 'ere. I 'ave a request for ye." Shawn walked to his friend's bedside and kneels.

"Shawny ole boy, we've been friends all our lives, and now I'm leaving 'ere. I 'ave one last request fir ye to do."

O'Brian burst into tears, "Anything Patrick, anything ye wish. It's done."

"Well, under me bed is a box containing a bottle of the finest whiskey in all of Ireland. After I die, and they plant me in the ground, I want you to pour that fine whiskey over me grave so it might soak into me bones and I'll be able to enjoy it for all eternity."

O'Brian was overcome by the beauty and in the true Irish spirit of his friend's request, he asked, "Aye, tis a fine thing you ask of me, and I will pour the whiskey. But, might I strain it through me kidneys first?"
