Tell us something about yourself. What brings you to this group?

Serious mandolin student, and lifelong folk singer & guitar player. Introduced by Silverlake choirmate Doug Kerr.

What musical experience have you had?

Numerous workshops at McCabes. Private mandolin lessons six yrs. Community chorus 11 years, vocal lessons, and several vocal workshops and showcases. Family Band performances at Camarillo Old Town Farmers Market past 3 yrs. Old-time fiddle jams past 2 yrs. Several weekend mandolin workshops with Barry Mitterhoff since 2006; weeklong mandolin workshops at Mandolin Symposium last 5 yrs.

What is it about a music jam that you like best?

Learning new material, stretching my chops, meeting new people, being inspired by talented folks.

There is a requirement that members either play an instrument or sing or both. If you want to bring a guest, you can bring them three times. After that, they have to join, necessitating their musicality or helping the meetup in some way. Understood?

Yes. Each week I lead - & accompany on mandolin - a folk singing group at Griffith Park Adult Community Center (for past 4 1/2 yrs); monthly folk singing hoot group for past 12 yrs; family band last 4 yrs; cowboy song acoustic string band.

Introduction

I'm a serious student of the mandolin and avid folk singer, and love to jam and sing with others.
