I play guitar, sing, and have written a few songs. I enjoy creating music with people. -John
Music is fun when you're by yourself, but it's so much more fun when it's shared with other people. That's what brought me to this group. What's kept me coming back is the nature of this group - warm and welcoming people with talent and enthusiasm and musical open-mindedness. Nora, the group leader, has a lot do do with setting the tone and nature of the group, and she's done a great job. I've been attending this groups events for two years now, and I've enjoyed myself every single time. Need I say more?
Held guitar, picked/ plucked/ pulled at strings. Repeatedly. For many years.
In a good jam, the musicians get together and create something that is bigger than the sum of its individual parts. It's wonderful to be a part of that experience.

"I've been very inspired by a few extraordinary music books. One is Kenny Werners "Effortless Mastery". Another is Victor Wooten's "The Music Lesson". If you feel stuck musically, read these - maybe they will speak to you as they did to me! "
A talented, friendly, welcoming, good-humoured, inclusive group of people - what a wonderful thing to find! There are some really talented musicians in the group, which could easily be intimidating, but everyone is welcomed and encouraged to participate. Every group of people develops a collective personality of sorts, and this one is exceptional - if you wish to share the simple pleasure of making music with other people, this group is a great place to start.

Hi John,
I read your comment in reaction to Masayuki and I completely agree. I guess I felt at odds about the dynamics but I wanted to say it was such a pleasure to meet you.
Take care,
Best Regards, SaraJane

Hi John - Nice playing with you. We enjoyed being outside in Earls garden on a Sunday afternoon, playing tunes...
Hi John. Hope you are free to visit us on Sunday, the 29th. Cool.
Hi, John- Sorry to hear you're sick! Now, just make sure you're well enough to come to the group cuz we'll all have our throats open wide...Take care, and hope your condition improves soon!
Hi John,
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really excited to be a part of this group & am very much looking forward to our next meet-up. :)
All my best,
Megan
Thanks for the welcoming words - lots of new stuff for me at the last SPAM Meetup - even the songs I knew had different arrangements - stretching is good. Also good - not a single banjo joke all day!
Vince

Hey John- right back at ya, a joy playing alongside you and hearing about the Agile guitars. I'll keep an eye out for them, and certainly read up on these links.
As to the Gurians, Paul Simon played his during the Brian Wilson Tribute, and no one could have made one sing more beautifully: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmjj5O...![]()

It's been a treat playing with everyone in this group. Looking forward to the next time!
Hi, John -
I saved the group because ... well ... it needed saving. I happened to have an ukulele event coming up, so I made that the first Meetup. I actually have never attended any of the events on this Meetup, but I had joined it long ago, because it was local to me. If people would like me to organize events, they can let me know. I'll be glad to put some events together!
