I'd like to set a date for next month's jam, preferably 'round a month after this last one. A member can't make it on the fourth Tuesday of the month, so would it be too late to make it the fifth, such as Tuesday, August 31st?
As well, is Tuesday good for you folks, or would you prefer a different night?
Whom in our group would
be interested in hosting our next month's jam?
Open mic stuff:
Tonight, at the Coffee Gallery in Altadena, http://www.coffeegallery.com/home.html
there will be an open mic which I will be attending. Anyone out there wanna join me? Sign ups are at 7:30; "show" starts at 8. It's a very fun, loose gathering of happy people, and even though it might be a bit loud, at the very least, you'll be heard. There are very good musicians who could accompany you both in singing and instrumentally, alongside a wonderful host, Duane, who will make you feel right at home. Sign up, or sit back and enjoy the show of those who're getting their guts up to sing and play and get used to doing so in front of other people.
This Tuesday night, at Viva Cantina in Burbank, http://www.vivacantina.com/
I'm planning on attending the open mic they have there, where sign ups are at 7, and they have an act that goes on at 8 and runs 'til 8:45, I b'lieve- then the open mic starts in. So c'mon down and let me know via email you're coming and I'll watch out for you!
Next month, I'd like our theme to be "Buddy Month". Yeah, I know my ideas sound corny, but they actually provide an optional structure whereby you can choose to bring your music and social interactions forward through participation in the "theme". K, the idea is this: Ask someone in the group to get together with you and practice up a song or two, so that you can then present it to the group at the next jam. Sound like fun? Scary? Exciting? Homework you don't want to do? You don't HAVE to- it's just a theme and a good way to create a challenge for yourself, learn new things and make new friends. I know it's already
