Announcing a new Meetup for South Pasadena Acoustic Musicians!

What: "Free" Concert of "Living Room", Beckett Hall, Altadena

When: Tuesday, December 7,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Beckett Hall
1051 East Altadena Dr.
Altadena, CA 91001
[masked]

This is a quickie, and I have only a few spots reserved. "Robert" and "John (a.k.a., "Seeking the Now") get spots as they've indicated they're on for the gig. What is it? A very unusual duo of bass clarinet and the "Hang" instrument. Christopher Pepe Auer plays Bass Clarinet and Manu Delago plays the "Hang" instrument, which is a metal percussive instrument shaped like a "flying saucer" that is chromatic, rings like a soft bell, and provides a delicious compliment to the dark and sultry tonality of the bass clarinet. Robert posted this as an idea and I'm going with it, having nabbed six reserved seats for us. It's a potluck, so bring some food if you can, and it would be great if you could honor the musicians with the purchase of their CD (not sure of the cost; could be 15 or 20 dollars).

Please click on their website for map, phone number, email address, sampling the music, etc:

Living Room is Manu Delago, one of the most accomplished and popular PANArt Hang players with top rated and multi-million view YouTube videos; and bass clarinetist Christoph Pepe Auer, Austrian Newcomer of the Year 2007 (Hans-Koller-Award).

Formed in 2006, Living Room focuses on the enchanting sound of the PANArt Hang set against the bass clarinet's huge tonal range. Living Room has toured the world, performing in more than 20 countries.
Colouring Book, their new CD/DVD release, is a diverse and colourful compilation of 11 newly-recorded tracks, ranging from fresh compositions, to selected popular remixes from their "Mega-Hits" series on Youtube, to grooves accompanied by Zimbabwean rap. The included DVD documents their seven 2009 European Living Room concerts. Each one having its own energy, history, and palette of sounds and sights.

The 2010 Colouring Book World Tour will be in Los Angeles for only three performances. Attend one and experience the sonic wizardry of this accomplished duo.

If this Meetup fills, you can try to call them to get your own spot, but do so quickly, as it is rapidly filling to capacity!

P.S: (Yes, there will be a "usual" jam this December; I'm just posting this first).

Hope to see some of you there- I listened to this music and it is meditative, transporting, transcendent, and "new" feeling. I enjoy music that allows my mind to go on an internal magic carpet ride that escorts me to wonderful perceptions, elevating me from the banality of "everyday life". Give 'em a listen; sign up- but do so only if you promise to go, as I've got very few seats reserved! See you there!

Cheers,
Nora
