Hike to Marmot Pass and Buckhorn Mountain

  • Aug 23, 2014 · 5:00 AM

This trip is full with 12 participants and 3 on the wait list.  If you have not registered online with The Mountaineers, you can still get on the wait list

Experience a beautiful alpine hike to fabulous views of the snow-capped Olympics and beyond.  This hike starts out on the Upper Big Quilcene River Trail No. 833.1, with a mostly moderate grade to 6,000 feet.  Enjoy old growth forests, open meadows, and spectacular views.  10.4 mi.rt., 3,500' gain to the pass.  With good weather, we will also climb the steeper, rough, open path above the pass for an additional 1 mi. /900' + gain to the top of Buckhorn Mountain for more great views.

It will be a long day well spent, so don't make plans to be home by a certain time.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
