Dash Point State Park Traditional Volkssport Walk -- 5 or 10K

Traditional Volkssport event so you can start anytime between 8am and noon, to finish by 3pm.  There will be a group walk starting at 10am if you want to walk a 10k with the group.  Trail is rated 2C.  It's only a 400 ft elevation gain overall, so it's a 2in C, because of some steep stairs in the 10K part.  5K is a 2B.

Walk on sidewalks through neighborhoods down to Dash Point State Park and continue down on dirt park trails to the beach.  The 5k returns well short of the beach and any difficult terrain.  The 10k will encounter two sets of steps cut into the bank and backed by logs.  Some are a little steep.  This is a good walk to have shoes with good tread and a walking stick for support on the steps.  The route will be dry.  Once down off the hill you'll go across a bridge with "Lincoln Log" looking supports, then down a trail with a series of boardwalks until you reach the parking lot and then to the beach and restrooms.  The uphill return is fairly gradual, but there are benches to sit and enjoy the scenery if you're tired.  The park is forest and shady.  The neighborhood to the from the park will likely be sunny.  Wear a hat and use sunscreen.

Dogs welcome on leash with owners cleanup, but not in buildings.

More stairs that listed, but a great walk!!! Did the group walk, but the map/signs were clear. Really appreciated the signage at the start point - made it easy to find. Had a wonderful time!! Well done!!

The first directions I printed off were wrong. They took me south of the correct location. The second set were correct, so make sure you are north of the Bay. This is the second time I have printed off directions that were wrong, using the get directions on Meet-Up.
I'm sure this has something to do with the street numbering in Tacoma.

Yes, this is the correct address and this address does match the address given in the NW Pathfinder. This is a section of Tacoma that is north of the port and often you get there by going through west Federal Way.
We hope to see you all there for this new trail and State Park event.

Am I missing something? The address given doesn't match the address in the Northwest Pathfinder.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
