Come join us for a traditional volksmarch (walk) celebrating the Hudson's Bay Days in DuPont. The walk starts and ends at DuPont's new Fire Station. This years event goes through the Historical Village of DuPont which was constructed about 100 years ago to house workers at the DuPont Explosive Plant (Closed in 1976). Signs along the route will point out historic buildings and sites within the Village. The Checkpoint will be in the DuPont Museum. Following the walk, join us view blacksmith, weavers, music and tours of the original site of Fort Nisqually, run by the Hudson's Bay Company as a fur trading post in the mid 1800's. We are also having a Salmon Bake starting at noon. Walkers will get $1 off the price of the salmon dinner.
You can start walking from 9 am to noon but must finish the walk by 3 pm. You can walk either 5 km (3 miles) or 10 km (6 miles). The trails are mostly level with some portions being dirt or gravel. There is no charge to walk or to view Hudson Bay Days displays. Restrooms are at the start/finish and inside the museum. A little difficult for baby strollers
Pets are welcome but must be leashed. Pets cannot come into buildings or around the salmon bake.
