A chance to meet fellow people diagnosed, self diagnosed or waiting for diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome (AS) or high functioning autism in a relaxing, non threatening and easy going environment.
This group has been going for over ten years and regularly attracts 10 to 20 AS/HFA people of all ages and genders. We meet at the Wetherspoons "The Commerical Rooms" pub in Corn Street, Bristol.
On entering the pub, go past the bar, into the left hand corner of the pub, where there is a back room. We usually have reserved tables for us to sit at in the back room.
As well as drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) the pub serves reasonably priced meals if you wish to have some food too.
The Bristol Asperger Social Group aims to be a tolerant, friendly place for people to interact and converse as they wish. Talking to other people can be difficult sometimes so we all try to include each other into conversation but there is no pressure to talk if you cannot or prefer not to - just be yourself.
If you want a brief explanation of how the group works or any other question - there are a few members who have been coming for several years and some volunteers who come along to the group as well so on your first visit ask to speak to one of them. Or Andrew Powell who facilitates the group.
