At its simplest, Humanists are people who think that we can live good lives without religious or superstitious beliefs.
The South West London Humanist Group was launched in Jan 2007 with the aims of:
providing a means for like-minded people in the area to meet and have a forum for the discussion of humanist values, principles and relevant subjects;
raising local awareness of humanist perspectives;
campaigning locally for respect for those who seek to live ethical and responsible lives without religious or superstitious beliefs, and against religious privilege;
undertaking appropriate charitable activities;
doing so in a way that is welcoming, tolerant and enjoyable.
We normally meet at 8.00pm on the last Monday of each month (including Bank Holidays) in the upstairs room of The Old Ship, King Street, Richmond.
Meetings are free (though we ask regulars to join up at a cost of £10/year) and open to anyone who shares our views, or thinks they may actually be a Humanist but wants to explore further.
We're affiliated to the British Humanist Association.
