RE: [SouthAustin-Friends-and-Fun] Drinking and Happy hour

I’ve only gone to one meetup with this group and yes, it was a happy hour but it was at a restaurant, Carinno’s (sp?); and the experience was great.  I saw that, although it was happy hour and we sat in the bar, some people in the group ordered iced tea to drink.

I don’t believe it’s about where it is or what you drink or eat, it’s about the people you experience as part of the evening.  Who you meet, what you have in common, if you’re interested in being around them again and if you have like life experiences that might connect and/or possibly bond you.  The food and/or drink aspect of it is such a small part of the experience and the location/venue is truly a matter of preference.

For me personally, the only thought I’ve had about the group is that it’s supposed to be for South Austin and appears to be all over Austin.  I remind myself, though, that Austin is HUGE and has so much to offer and is so diversified in so many ways that I’m thankful  I just have to make a choice for myself where I’m comfortable traveling to and what locations I want to experience.  I do hope to attend more of the events and look forward to getting to know those that attend better.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

Tammy

Hay Kate

It's not condescending ...it's boundary crossing. What other people do is their business, drinking or not drinking is an Adult decision and an individual one. If you don't feel comfortable going into bars ...ah, don't go and or suggest non- pub like places or join a hiking group. Personally I do drink to have a good time and many times I do...sometimes I don't. That's just my take on your comment of not drinking and the rest have to for  a good time.

Hay Ya'll

Not to be condescending, but I would really like to know way so many of you feel you have to Drink to have a good time? I do not drink of any kind, and I can have a good time without drinking. I would love to join you all some social things. But since I do not drink, I don't feel comfortable join you at bars and taverns.

Sincerely,

Kate
