Huddart-Phleger County Park Hike

Mark your calendars for this challenging hike to help you get into shape for Pinnacles on 3/20.
Hike Description: This is a loop hike to Skyline Road via Phleger and Huddart parks. We will start from the Zwierlein Picnic area of San Mateo County's Huddart Park at 8:30 AM. Our route will take us into Phleger Estate of the GGNRA and on an ascent, steep at times, to the Kings Mountain area near Skyline Road. We will descend through Huddart park on the Chinquapin and Dean trails back to the start. The hike will take four to five hours. The parks feature mixed oak, redwood and fir forests, and the route is mostly shaded. Click here for the Huddart County Park Website
This is a strenuous hike of nearly ten miles and 1700' of elevation gain. Bring water, something to eat, and hiking poles. Dress in layers. The climb will be a good workout, but the descent will be gentle. Water and restrooms will be available at the start. There is a charge of $5/car to park at Huddart Park.
Driving Directions: From I-280 take Woodside Road (Hwy 84) west 1.5 miles to Kings Mountain Rd., turn right, and go 1.5 miles to the main park entrance on the right side of the road. The Zwierlein picnic area is on the loop road to the right shortly after entering the park.
Carpool: A carpool will leave from the Page Mill Rd Park and Ride at 8:00. The P&R is on the southwest corner of I-280 and Page Mill Rd.
