Joins us on a hike to one of the most scenic open space preserves in the area with an an optional lunch at a lovely Pan Asian restaurant in Saratoga.
About Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve: Skyline Ridge is a 2,143 acre open space preserve that offers beautiful landscapes that include ridge vistas, meadows, a beautiful pond and a scenic lake frequented by birds and wild animals. There are ten miles of trails, one encircling Alpine Pond and another Horsehoe Lake. There are fabulous views of the Lambert Creek watershed, Butano Ridge and Portola State Park.
About the Optional Lunch afterwards at Mint Leaf Restaurant in Saratoga. They have delicious Pan Asian food with lunch specials ranging from $8.50 to $10.00 + Tax and Tip. Carpool: Meet at 7:55 a.m. at 4th street in Saratoga (Behind the Plumbed Horse Restaurant). Turn right on 4th street and it's the parking lot on the left.)
Directions to Trail Head: The entrance to the preserve is located about one mile south of Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) and Page Mill Road/Alpine Road insersection. Take 85 exit Saratoga. Go through Saratoga and up Highway 9. Turn right on Skyline going toward SF and turn left into the parking lot and bear to the right where the restroom is. If coming from the other direction, it's 1.5 miles from the intersection of Skyline and Page Mill Road. Disclaimer: These directions are taken from the park website and may not work for everyone. Hike Description: We will be hiking by two ponds (Horseshoe and Alpine), both with water, some woodlands and grasslands, and a view of the ocean along the way. The hike is about 6 miles and should take us approximately 3 hours to complete. Afterwards join us for an optional lunch in Saratoga at the Mint Leaf Restaurant.
