Join us for our 4th annual picnic to be held at Sanborn County Park in Saratoga. We'll make a short approx 4.2 mile hike and have a picnic lunch afterwards in the beautiful Sanborn County Park.
About Sanborn Park: Sanborn County Park is a lushly wooded park with over 3449 acres of mixed evergreen forests that is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains and located between the town of Saratoga and Skyline Boulevard. Sanborn Park has over fifteen mles of trails with many options from easy nature walks to challenging hilly hikes all the way to Castle Rock and Skyline Blvd. One of the parks main features is the San Andreas Fault which cuts along Lyndon Canyon, Lake Ranch and Sanborn Road. Expect to see a variety of mixed terrain including Oak, Madrone, Douglas Fir and beautiful tall Redwood Trees.
Hike Details: We will be taking the Peterson Trail to the Sanborn Trail which we'll will take part way to Skyline. We'll return on the same route and connect to the San Andreas Trail to the Todd Creek Trail which will take us back to the park for the picnic. http://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Documents/SanbornGuideMapFinal.pdf.
Food Details: It will be a potluck. We will be providing bbq items including a variety of grass fed sausages, drinks for everyone as well as all the picnic essentials including the paper plates, knives and forks, napkins, water, sparkling water, soft drinks and ice. This is provided compliments of your membership dues.
It would be fun if everyone could bring a small dish to share. Please post in the comments section what you would like to bring. Items we need are salads (all kinds), desserts and appetizers. Extra meat dishes also welcome.
Carpool Info: Meet at 8:50 a.m at 4th Street in Saratoga. The lot is located on located behind Plumed Horse Restaurant. On Highway 9 going through the village of Saratoga, turn right on 4th Street. Parking is first parking lot of the left hand side.
Driving Directions to Trailhead: Take 85 exit to Saratoga Avenue . Go through the village of Saratoga and up Highway 9. Take a left onto Sanborn Road. Drive for approximately one mile and you will come to the park entrance which is located on the right hand side. There is a $6.00 park entrance fee.
