Rancho San Antonio

RAIN CANCELLED. If you're like me and would rather hike than shop, or you need a break from the holiday madness, join me for a hike at Rancho. We don't hike here as a group very often due to the crowds, but winter is a good time to go.  I'm keeping the RSVP to 19 because MROSD does not issue permits for Rancho.

Hike Difficulty: Moderate, about 8 miles, I'm not sure on elevation, I'll guess about 1800'.

Hike Description: Short/steep climb to water tank; along pretty and slightly downhill Coyote Trail to Wildcat; Upper Wildcat loop to High Meadow Trail; Down to the Vista Point for snack/rest break; descend on Wildcat to Rouge Valley; through Deer Hollow Farm and back to the start.  Time about 3.5 to 4 hours.  Two opportunities to use the restroom by Deer Hollow Farm.

Meeting Spot:  Meet at the main parking lot, which is at the very end of the entry road, after you go the down the hill. If there is no parking in this lot, park in one of the other 4 lots you passed on the way in and walk back. Allow a few extra minutes to park.

Directions:  Exit Hwy. 280 at Foothill Expressway. After exiting from northbound, turn left, from southbound, turn right.  Turn right on Cristo Rey Drive, at the first stop light. follow the road, taking the second right out of the roundabout. Turn left into the park entrance. Stay on the main entry road all the way to the parking lot at the end.  It's the only lot that has a restroom.

Rain:  Heavy rain will cancel, light rain ok.  I'll post a heads up by 7 am Saturday morning.

Carpool: This hike is close in, so I'm not setting up a carpool, but feel free to leave comments to arrange a ride if you want.

I think it wise to cancel. We had some thunder and lightning earlier and it's pretty darn wet. See you next time.

If it's raining then I'll give this one a miss and won't do the dish at Stanford.

Hi Everyone: check here at 7 am to see if hike is on or off. We could do Stanford Dish instead if rain heavy, if someone knows that route better than me.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
