The South Bay Ramblers is a Bay Area hiking group that was formed in the South Bay with the goal of gathering people together to have fun, while getting plenty of exercise and making new friends. The South Bay Ramblers Hiking Group has been in existence since 2005 and we have been offering community hikes at least twice monthly since that time.
Our hikes generally cover six to ten miles and can be fairly strenuous. Our group has many wonderful organizers who are avid hikers who post regular hikes on our schedule. Our hikes frequent the local Santa Clara County Parks, Open Space Preserves and Santa Cruz Mountains. Occasionally, we organize other fun outings such as kayaking, day trips to places like Pinnacles, Ano Nuevo State Park, Redwood Zip Lines and many other local attractions. Lately, we've been venturing beyond the South Bay to places such as San Bruno Mountain State Park, Angel Island State Park and the Marine Headines. We also just hosted our second fun annual picnic at Loch Lomond near Santa Cruz.
We have a mandatory $12 membership dues to cut down on non-participation and to assist us in the cost of running our meet-up site, paying for essentials at our picnic and other events and the time and effort involved in running an active group. If you would like to lead at least one hike a year, or help in planning hikes/events, your membership dues can be waived. RSVPs open two weeks prior to the scheduled hike.
Please read our Hiking Disclaimer before joining the South Bay Ramblers Hiking Group. By joining this group, you agree to all the terms and conditions of this waiver. We also recommend you explore our About page to discover a little more about how we run our group.
PLEASE NOTE: Our group is currently closed to new members. Even though we're a small hiking group compared to other meet-ups, our regular members are very active and our hikes fill up each week with waiting lists. For the safety of our hikers and to protect the environment, we take a maximum of 25 members on a hike. For this reason, we cannot accommodate any more hikers at this time. We will re-open the group to new membership when our existing hikers become inactive or leave the group.
Hope to see you hiking soon!
