Rambler Readers Book Club August Meeting

  • August 22, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Location:  Becky will be hosting at her lovely home in Los Gatos and details will be emailed to all who RSVP one week prior to the meet-up.  Becky will be making Cuban beans and rice.  Please bring an accompanying dish.

About the Book Club:

If you can commit to reading one good book about every 5-6 weeks, attend the regular meetings and take turns hosting the monthly Rambler Readers Book club meeting, we welcome you to join the book club.

This months book choices:  Grandma Gatewoods Walk by Ben Montgomery or The Orphan's Master's Son by James Adams

About Grandma Gatewoods Walk by Ben Montgomery

Emma Gatewood told her family she was going on a walk and left her small Ohio hometown with a change of clothes and less than two hundred dollars. The next anybody heard from her, this genteel, farm-reared, 67-year-old great-grandmother had walked 800 miles along the 2,050-mile Appalachian Trail. And in September 1955, having survived a rattlesnake strike, two hurricanes, and a run-in with gangsters from Harlem, she stood atop Maine’s Mount Katahdin. There she sang the first verse of “America, the Beautiful” and proclaimed, “I said I’ll do it, and I’ve done it.”  Available on Amazon at the following link:

About The Orphan's Master's son by James Adams

RSVP Guidelines for the Book Club. If you RSVP “yes,” please be sure to attend. If you are later unable to attend, please change your RSVP to “no” so the hostess knows how many will be attending. We will organize a waiting list if the group becomes full. If there’s a cancellation, the spot will go to the first member on the waiting list. If you attend the book club meeting, you will automatically be put in next month's book club unless you let me know otherwise. If you miss two or more, you will have to RSVP again to attend.
