This is Acoustic Guitar for Beginners(Level II) taught by John Silva. However, this is NOT an Absolute Beginner Course. If you are an absolute beginner we have a separate class that starts you off. This course assumes you can play basic chords (A, E, F, G, C, D Eminor. A minor). Our goal with this course is to enable to walk out after four weeks to more confidently play in a jam session with others. We will build upon what was covered in the previous Absolute Beginners course.
Content to be covered includes:
*Review of all the basic major and minor chords
*More ear training
*Extensive practice on various songs from our Songbook
*More practice with different strumming patterns, getting a feel for the rhythm of a song.
*Learn to work well with others in a jam.
*Learn new Chords - Open Dominant 7ths and why they are important.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This is not absolute Beginner Course. It is designed for those who've gone through the Absolute Beginner Class that we offered in the past and/or can play the basic chords (ie-A,E,F,G,C,D, E minor, A minor) Maybe you are still struggling with F chord a bit. That's ok. If you want to start to make that bridge from beginner to intermediate this may be for you. We are looking for people who can play basic chords and want to expand their capabilities so that they can feel more confident taking part in group jams. If you've come to one of our free beginner jams and s till feel a bit overwhelmed in your ability to keep up with others, then this class may be for you.
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE BEGINNERS LEVEL III?:
The Beginners Level III course spends more time introducing you to moveable major, and minor bared chords. The songs we play in that course are a bit more challenging. In the level two course we spend more time developing your skills by playing songs to the basic chords you learned in the Absolute Beginners LEVEL I course as well as open dominant sevenths. We want you to become really proficient at transistions for the basic chords before you move on to Level III.
As with all classes, if you really want to improve you need to also set aside time to practice. Coming to a class without practicing really limits how far you can progress. If you plan on joining us make sure you can set aside time to practice.
