Sheet Mulch Workday

Dig in at the New Community of Faith to Sheet Mulch their front landscape!

This is a straight up workday - most of the hard work is done, just sheet mulching and edging placement to finish things up for this stage.

It has been a lot of fun to get together and hang out with folks around this project, we hope you can join us!

Transition San Jose is working with the New Community of Faith to do a simple makeover to their barren front landscape. For this workshop we will be using sheet mulch (a simple combination of cardboard and yard trimmings) to restore the landscape. Sheet mulch is a very effective method to suppress weeds while also creating a nice rich soil that holds more water, and makes plants very happy.

The sheet mulch materials are all sourced locally for free, so this is a very green and cheap way to create a healthy yard!

Sorry I can't join you. I will be at Occidental Arts and Ecology Center this weekend doing a 3 day workshop on Edible Food Forests. I'm looking forward to being back on the farm.

I personally have loved being part of this project, and it has been a very good experience for our small faith community.
