US Government collapse coming up. We exist in systems. The systems produce neat stuff like iPads and not so neat stuff like death and starvation. I think the tech cheerleaders such as Peter Diamandis, Ray Kurzweil, K. Eric Drexler focus on the nifty tech and ignore the not so great politics. We can learn a lot from Rob Hopkins and Tim Harford.
I just looked up permaculture as it is a new word for me and my spell checker! I've been interested in peace, prosperity, and getting off this "rock" since the 6th grade. Otherwise, I think of myself as having a wilted thumb (eg. no talent making green things grow). I've big ideas. Schools that nurture a child's innate curiosity and builds on success after success. Short vertical farms floating in the ocean taking advantage of the space, and abundant solar energy. Let's build a few Gerard K. O'Neil space stations, space elevator, maglev train to the stars! In short maybe not much experience, and big ideas.
Peter Diamandis writes about raising the bottom billion. For San Jose, working with the homeless to do engaging things beyond picking up trash. The concept of vertical farm and lots of IMPROVED solar collectors interests me. Can we do outreach to churches, civic groups, build group awareness in Silicon Valley?
Hi! I've been studying power in hierarchies - how governments and corporations misbehave. It's a tragedy of the commons! We mere humans deserve a better ways of organizing and getting things done. I'm reading Transition Companion - very impressed!
I'm looking forward to participating. The main focus of the group is to get some videos up on the group website. I'm inspired to reinstall my video camera on my computer and make some videos. Neat.
