Why are you interested permaculture?

Because it groks as just the right way to do things on a deeply intuitive and common sensical level. More than that would probably require too deep a psycho-analysis. Maybe I'm reacting against overly materialistic, overly conservative parents. More likely, I've always been a deep fan of mother nature as master engineer, and it seems clear the Permies have made Her the head instructor of their universal University.

What is your experience with permaculture?

Raise ducks (and chickens). What more need be said? Oh - and I've got the piece of Permie design cert paperwork a couple of years back from some Berkeley hippy fly-by-night school after a few months of weekend lessons. Have a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, which probably helps somehow. Have been observing and appreciating Nature for a lifetime. Have been getting dirt under the fingernails even longer.

How do you want to contribute to this group?

Don't know yet. Probably via appreciative listening at first, and tons of questions later.

Introduction

I'm a local serial tech entrepreneur into most things green. Cofounded a sustainability educational nonprofit with my partner. Am a futurist. Probably have a smaller carbon footprint than most other Californians, except for a bad meat habit.
