It was nice meeting everyone. Thank you for hosting us. Thank you everyone that brought food or wine. I enjoyed all of the wines that we tasted

A HUGE thank you to the Coffman's for hosting. As someone wanting to explore wine making, I loved the overall spirit of the group... Yes I will bring food pairings for our next gathering... you all bring the wine!

Sorry I didn't make it-- SL is actually a little more convenient for me, too. Had to babysit my granddaughter at the last minute…which was a nice surprise. Was hoping to bring a recent bottle of a Vino Italiano (Cornucopia) Peach Chardonnay to share. Great, very drinkable, 'not serious' wine kit. (I call these 'cheerleader wines' remembering high school :-) Hope to attend the next one.

Great! Jim's place is a lot closer to home. Don't have any of my own brews to bring. What else can I bring?

Excellent! Thank you Jim for inviting all of us strangers into your home. Please let us know if we can bring anything. See you Sunday!

Folks, we couldn't get Home Winery Supply lined up for Sunday, but Jim Coffman has offered for us to meet at his home in South Lyon instead. 10900 Silver Lake Road, South Lyon
(According to Google Maps, it's less than a mile east of US23 on Silver Lake Road, right at the first curve)

We'll get to see his wine cellar, and perhaps try some of his wines. If you want to bring a sample of some of your own too, we can do that!
(There are lots of pictures of Jim making wine with family and friends in the front yard of his house here and on the Facebook page, so please don't be afraid to join us at a private residence)

Jim, should we bring snacks or something for this?

    Hi Jeff,

Home Winery Supply is closed on Sundays and I am not sure yet if we can meet there. [Hence the "tentative" designation] If they open just for us, it sure would be to their benefit to be open for sales at that time, but I don't know yet.

Corey was going to talk to them about using the store for our meeting. If not, I think Mark at Wine Barrel Plus in Livonia offered his store as a place to meet (and his store IS open nights and weekends-I picked up four cases of bottles and corks there Tuesday night)

Will the store be open? I need to pick up a few things.

Really excited to see this group! I am looking forward to meeting up with everyone and sharing. I'd like to announce my new corkaDoodle winemaking app on the Google Play app store (hopefully Apple iOS soon, too). I'll buy you a coffee when we meet up. :-) It includes a simple batch journal, barcode reader for materials, some introductory info, links to Amazon ,Midwest, Adventures in Homebrewing, Wines.com, etc. There's an absolutely brand new ( read: fresh, but empty) forum behind the app that I would love to have people jump into and help shape. I really want corkaDoodle to be casual and fun-- like talking to that guy at work that makes wine. Had some good luck lately with a really inexpensive ($40 on sale) Vino Italiano kit (Montepulciano about 8 months old now). Bumped up the oak to drive the tannins a little higher so it would keep an edge, and it turned out pretty good…better all the time.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
