24 hour survival day

  • May 25, 2013 · 7:00 AM
  • This location is no longer available

The plan is to spend the night in a wilderness environment using a combination of your primitive skills along with a 24 hour "bug out bag" this will give you the experience and knowledge of the limitations of your gear and also what gear works and what doesn't or is redundant.

In your "bug out bag" you should have equipment to aid in your survival lets go over some of the essentials.

Shelter: be it a tarp, trash bag, plastic sheeting or if you're confident enough a debris hut or other natural shelter

Water: canteen, water bottle, ziplock bags, unlubricated condoms anything you can transport and store water in (lets get creative) also water purifying material (i'm a boil type of guy)

Fire: flint and steel, blast match, sparkie, magnifying glass (anything that will produce heat) also if confident of your skills a hand drill, bow drill, fire saw or any other primitive method

Food: bring food if you wish remember you can live without it for up to 3 months so you won't starve if you bring nothing to eat, some suggestions on eats are, MRE, GORPS, trail mix, granola, heater meals, ETC or we can forage off the land, if planning on foraging please, I can't stress this enough bring a good book to identify the edibles. (nothing worst than a belly ache)

Knife: full tang fixed blade and sharp (you don't need a machete)

This equipment can all fit into a small pack or hip pack my "BOB" fits on my belt.

There will be a hike to get to the location I plan on using so please wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress for the weather this event will happen rain or shine.  Also please answer the questions that are posted I do need the information about your vehicle you plan on coming to the event in so I can get the required parking permit and the police do not ticket you.

RSVP is set for only 10 members due to the nature of the event. So first come first served.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email or give me a jingle at[masked]

Let's have some fun and challenge ourselves on this one!

Even with the change in venue at the last minute I believe that we all had a good time and put our knowledge and equipment to the test. It was great to see everyone!
