Just wanted to add some info for tomorrow's ride. Here's some profiles of the ride.
1st is from Picketpost to the forest boundary:http://www.aztrail.org/passages/profiles/17_AlamoCanyon.jpg

2cd is from FS boundary to Gila: http://www.aztrail.org/passages/profiles/16_GilaRiverCanyons.jpg
Note: we'll be traveling first N to S, or right to left on the graphs.

I'm thinking the ride to the Gila and back may be too long for me, but I will decide as we go.

Everybody remember to bring PLENTY of WATER!!

Note: In the passage 16 profile, the intersection with the Gila River is at mile 15. Then the trail parallels the river to the Kelvin Bridge.

I don't mind climbs and need them in prep for whiskey 50 but wondering how technical the ride is say compared to 24 OP?

Are you going to the Gila river and back or are you doing the north end of the trail?

From Picketpost Trailhead to the Gila River and back looks to be about 43 miles, over steep terrain. If you shuttle from Picketpost to the Kelvin Bridge Trailhead, it would be 36.7 miles. Still no walk in the park! There is no water on the trail other than the Gila.

Correct.Max.is a long way climb back from river is as hard than from p.p. we will ride until the group feels good and turn around.

I'm in on this ride, I was there a few weeks ago and did not do last drop to river, can't wait to do it. there is a good chance of having water in river. I'll carry a lot of water because Gila river water is nasty. If possible I would love to carpool. I"m guessing the return time is about 6:00 pm.

Would love to join you, but already committed to a full-day hike with hard climbs on Sunday.
