For the uninitiated...it's a right of passage. This is a tough ride, with 1500- 2000 ft of climbing on gnarly jeep/ATV road. As I haven't ridden this in over 10 years, it will be an exploratory ride. I'd like to see how far we can reasonably ride on the Canada del Oro trail on the other side of the Gap.
This ride is 1500ft uphill for the first 6 miles to the Gap. This is rough road, but not very technical and open to anyone who wants to improve their climbing skills. It's easy to turn around at any point as it's an out-and-back.
Here's a video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=LOotXruewlU Notice the cyclists fall down, even though they are gasoline powered!
Challenging and scenic ride! Not for the timid or faint of legs or lungs!
If anyone's interested, I can meet at Himmel Park at 0800 - please post in RSVP.
