Thanks to all who attended the meetup last evening. It was great to spend the evening outdoors! It was good to see Heddi, and Dave and son, who haven't been able to join us in awhile. Also nice to meet Rochelle and her little cutie pie of a daughter. Thanks to Heddi for bringing a great batch of kindling and other great natural fire-making materials. Thanks to Dave and son for the steel wool and 9-volt battery demonstrations. Thanks to Lewis for bringing his usual potpourri of useful gadgets and tools. Congrats to all who tried new methods of fire-starting. Too bad none of us were brave enough to try the board and spindle method. To everyone else, you shoulda been there! We had fun!

I just looked at my post again. Actually, the entrance to the parking lot is south of the church, but the parking lot is west of the church. Just pull in and you'll see.

Hi, Ryno. POD just means we're a subgroup of the Southern Arizona Preppers. We meet on the east side of town because for some of us it's most convenient, but everyone is welcome.

This Thursday night we'll be practicing our fire-starting skills. We'll be meeting outdoors. If you plan to attend, please bring the following, if possible:
one or more ways to light a fire
    one or more tinder bundles
    a lawn chair for yourself
    (marshmallows are optional)

A tinder bundle is a handful of flammable material such as small twigs and grasses , that has been worked into the shape of a bird nest (round, with a depression in the middle). You might even use an actual bird nest that is not in current use by its builder.

I'm hoping we can view and practice several ways of starting a fire. If you have time before then, look up some Youtube videos that show various methods.

Those coming, please park in the lot that's south of the church building.

Is there an itinerary for this meeting? I'm new to the group so I don't know what a POD meeting is.

Greetings! Sorry we will not be able to make the meeting. is anyone in the Preppers group familiar with OAS ? Operation American Spring. Right now I am working on setting up a crew in Tucson to support fellow patriots from calif and AZ that will be going to Washington DC on May16th for OAS. I am setting up three crews: 1 in the Flagstaff sector,2. The Phoenix sector, 3 Our Tucson sector. Our purpose is to provide Gas, food and prayer (and possibly Com Equip) for the event. So between now and at least may 16th that is my focus. If anyone is interested please contact me.
