Actually, the plan I was looking at is a parabolic trough with a pipe that goes across it and connects to a coil. That descends into the ice box. The whole thing is filled with ammonia and sealed . The Sun heats the ammonia up and pushes it through the system. At night the ammonia re condenses. It's supposed to make a ten pound chunk of ice per day out of moisture in the air.. I will try to find my file on it and post a drop box link to it.

Oh thanks would love to find out about it. My solar oven only produces a 1.5 inch a night I think

I built my own generator. I can present what it will take and I can field questions. let me know[masked]

Hello folks Todd here. Unfortunately we were unable to secure our original presenter for this topic, and have been unable to secure a replacement speaker, or even find a person to lead us in this topic at all!

Hi Todd. there is a guy at Sportsman's Warehouse names Justin who is the "go to guy" on Solar there. Maybe he could be our speaker? What about someone from Solar Tucson?

So we will have a general question and answer meeting instead.

Has anyone looked/tried building at solar ice makers? They look very interesting.

Perfect, got it and thanks. We call it something different. We actually wheel it up to where the batteries are being charged by the panels and then hook it in to recharge the batteries on the handcart with the inverter, charge controller, and cables that can be connected to anything else like with a generator or extension cord. Thanks

Nothing in the real world is exact. I would say a generator makes useable electric. then I feel a PV panel could be part of the generator. Further I feel, wires, a controller, and maybe an inverter. Storage of excess electric would be nice, batteries. that is pretty much the way I have my generator setup.

What "exactly" is a solar generator and how does it differ from a solar panel?
