New York City meetup

Let's meet in NYC around the 13th, 14th, or 15th of July (update: postponed to August 25th). This is your chance to meet the other Blenderheads in this group - it should be fun!

If you think you might attend, let me know which day would be best for you.

We need a location. What ideas do you have? If nobody suggests a location, we can just meet in a bar and talk. Maybe at the Caufield, or the Mason Jar, or another good bar somewhere. I am not local to NYC, so am depending on you to come up with a good place. I am opening up this meetup for any member to edit, so if you know somewhere, just edit the meetup and set the location.

Wherever we meet, there are plenty of things to talk about, and I will bring a laptop in case anyone wants to discuss and show specific techniques.

Not enough people attended. But for the two of us that did, it was great.

Good news and bad news. Good news is we showed each other some good tips and techniques, had a great conversation, and came up with something concrete to work on before the next meetup, for the collaborative project.

Bad news is the only person to turn up was Jared, who lives in Connecticut like me. None of the NYC members were there. You guys need to tell me. If you can meet up better on different days, say so. Different times, ditto. Should I give everyone more warning? The group won't work as well if we don't get to actually meet. If nobody in NYC wants to meet, then we will focus on CT locations, and try to grow the group up here more.

We already have a meetup planned for Stamford next week, so am looking forward to seeing some of you then.

Many times our career group met in the Marriot(243 Tresser Blvd) lobby or pub which is free and there is plenty of room, but I'm looking into the room rates. Yes its an easy walk from Stamford train station.

Yes, I work in Stamford, so often get my 3 hours for 50c - quite a bargain. I didn't know you could use space at the Marriott. How much does that cost? For those not familiar with Stamford, the Marriott is walking distance from the train station.

Need to clarify, Marriot by i95, Stamford, CT Exit 7.

For location, I'm open to Norwalk or Darien Library in which we can get a meeting room. For a more festive atmosphere, Marriott Hotel has lots of room and for 50c you can park in the Town Center garage.

Since the Blender 3D Production Animation Group is having a meetup on the 14th, let's reschedule ours to another weekend. I'm out of the country for a few weeks, so we can tentatively make it August 25th. We still need a location, so if you know one, feel free to add it to this meetup, or suggest it in the comments.

One of the things we can talk about is our collaborative project, Let's Race! Check the discussion board for more details, and post a comment.
