Bethal Point to Little Snow Island

http://files.meetup.com/4057492/Statement.pdf

Little Snow / Yarmouth Island Saturday 12 July 2014, 10:00

Organizer: Doug Kirk

This paddle will began at the launch at Bethal Point, near Cundy's Harbor, Maine. This location allows for several routes with varing levels of protections. The inner route allows a protected paddle to Little Snow Island on the inside of Quahog Bay. This bay is the home of a pair of Bald Eagles and usually many other types of water fowl. A second route allows a circumnavigation of Yarmouth Island. This route allows some protection, but also exposes the paddler to conditions on the seaward side of the island including some nice exposed ledges. This trip is considered a level one paddle and will be paced accordingly. Low Tide: 11:40 PM

There is a $6.00 per vehicle launch fee, but this fee does include use of a portable toilet. Please continue to check in for updates:

Not sure why the statement link is not working, but you can find it by going up to the menu bar and clicking on "More" than "Files" and look at the bottom of the page.

I see that it's too late to rsvp, but I'm planning to be there and hope I can join in this group paddle on this gorgeous day.

    To all,

The paddle is almost here. Tomorrow looks great. We have a lot of people and some of you have paddled this before. I am thinking that perhaps the first 10 individuals can take off on their own if at least one of them knows the way and is willing to be the guide. I will stay and go in the last group. Plan to have lunch on Little Snow. In addition, since we are so large a group I hope people show up a little early to ensure we are all not stuck in a traffic jam in the last minutes. As always this is not our launch and we must go out of our way to accommodate any local persons who come to use the launch. I added some information on Google Docs. Not necessary but some people like it. Forgive me if this does not work as I am new to Google Docs.

I have just removed the 20 person limit on this paddle. This is a very controlled area with lots of parking. In addition, I see people who have gone before and will be able to lend a hand if I need it. Plus I like helping the lady who has the marina. She allows overnight parking and that is hard to find now. Remember $6 cash per car.

Have been slow this season securing housing in Portland and even slower transferring my SMSKN membership over to MeetUp. I look forward to paddling with you all again!
