Hey Kristen! Thanks for going to all the effort to make the yummiest gf cake ever! Really, it was one of the most delicious cakes I've ever eaten. And thanks for the champagne. I just wish we all could have shared it with you.

I'm also sorry to cancel at the last minute... I had hoped to be able to finish but between the accident and work just haven't. I thought about coming anyway - I hate to miss tonight! :-) But I can't stand to know how this is going to end! Maybe some of you will have a teeny side conversation in the future? LOL I'm really enjoying it! Have fun!!

So sorry to have to back out so late - was really looking forward to it - but I won't be able to make it after all. Looking forward to next time.

I was looking forward to my first meeting, but sadly, my Mom just passed away and I won't be able to read the book by the 26th. I'll try for next time. Look forward to meeting you all.

I don't have a copy of the book yet. About to buy one..

    January 21, 2014

I think we should try to stick to the February date. We can discuss a bit more tomorrow. Let's work as a group to get a copy to those who haven't been able to get it. Karen, Peggy and Randi...are you still waiting on the book?

    January 21, 2014

    • Randi

yes, still very long waiting list at library for it (that I'm on.)

I would prefer to discuss the book in February. I dedicated a few days to getting through the book in anticipation of the group. I am excited to talk to others about it. I would be ok with posting until March, but no later.

    January 11, 2014

    • Patricia

Now that I've started it I will definitely be ready by February if that's what the group wants and all are able to get it. It got me right away and doesn't hurt to be set in my old stomping grounds!

I've been on the wait list for the audiobook version of The Goldfinch since our December meeting. I'm #33 out of 96. Since the book is long, I decided to buy the Kindle version to give me a chance of finishing by February. So, March works for me.

I don't know that we need 6 months but could go with Morna and Peggy to push it out. I have it but haven't had time to even start. My son is still home from college another week and work has been crazy. It's long and sounds like many don't even have it yet.

I'm with Morna. How does everyone feel about pushing it back 6 months? This is still considered a new book, not even out in paperback yet.

  • Morna

Should we postpone reading The Goldfinch to March? Comments?

I don't think so, as will likely still be on waiting list then...maybe those who get from library or own can lend for a bit of time to those who need?

      January 9, 2014

  • Randi

me, too...I am on hold at library for it, but very long list ahead of me, so doubt will get in time...so if anyone who has from library or owns can lend it for a week or so between now and then, that would be much appreciated!

Anyone willing to loan the book to me ... for a week? It's seems to be VERY popular at the library and is on "back order" with over 1000 requests in. :)

Just received this book for Christmas. I would love to bring a treat to share that relates to the book. How does this work?

    December 27, 2013

    • Morna

How delightful! Meet us at 6pm to share food and laughs.

      December 28, 2013

  • Morna

I am just reading it...highly recommend it. Get on the library wait list ASAP. Enjoy....
