Fossil Hunting FYI

Hello all:

Here is some additional fossil hunting info. For excellent maps/directions, see our meet up page for this event. We will also have a sign at the entrance to the parking lot. No getting lost! :)

We will be bringing park maps and fossil information including samples of what we have found. We will also have bottled water. Please bring snacks if you'd like.

You can bring small garden trowels if wish, but you shouldn't have to. We have found all of our fossils just sitting there on the surface. Although this site is not quite as fossiliferous as some others in Minnesota, it is still fairly easy to find fossils.

Wear comfy shoes as there is a hike to get to the fossil beds.

Reminder that restrooms are located 1 mile away at Harriet Island Park.
