Ukulele Melee

Each May brings “National Play Your Ukulele Day” - a chance to “change the world four strings at a time” by playing your ukulele, sharing it, teaching others to play and ukulele fellowship. For many, every day is play your ukulele day, so pull out your ukulele and play like there is no tomorrow. There will be workshops, open mic, sing-alongs, guest performers, and strumming for everyone. Theme food available for purchase. Space is limited, register early. Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

Hi June and all. Sorry I didn't go; it sounded like great fun. The LMB had a last minute gig and we entertained some friends from France. Next time Gadget.

A great day at the melee. Great talent and inspiration. Thanks to June, Johnny, Kathy, Chris, and Dennis for stepping up to provide lunch time entertainment. It was pleasure playing and singing with you.

Well, I said that I wasn't going, but...it does look like fun and my calendar isn't too crowded. So, if I go, I could take up to 6 people in my turquoise VW bus. We'll talk Friday.

I'm hoping to go... but due to family obligations... may have to back out last minute...in other words...I'm winging it!

Is there going to be any attempt to car pool? I'm up for driving or being a passenger, but if some of us can go together, it seems silly to all drive down separately.

I think car pooling would be great! I'm not going straight home, most likely, so will probably drive down and back by myself... but those who can car pool, please post here.. thanks!

Thanks Alex… The one in Kittery was the firs local Uke event I ever attended. I met Frank Landford and later
joined SNHUG and the Silver Strummers.

Does anyone know if this like the one at the Kittery Dance Hall a couple of years ago? Who is the sponsor group?

    1 · April 8, 2014

    • Alex K.

The Ukulele Union of Boston is hosting it!

I'm going to say a tentative yes. I haven't been to a good old-fashioned melee in years, I'll bring my flail.

Once again, I'd love to go but I can't. I work 7-3:30 that day. Story of my life. :-(

I've heard this is really fun, I'm going to try to go this year.

I plan to be there too, so I would love to carpool! Is anybody else planning on it? It could be a fun road trip! Let us know!

Have we been asked to play there? Sounds fun!
