This group has been formed to provide a central meeting place for Southern Oregon's small sailboat and sailing kayak owners (a group that has few other options through other venues). We are not a "club" or an "organization". We have no bylaws, no regulations, no organizational meetings, no newsletters, no yacht clubs, no dues, no duties, and no "bosses". We are just a bunch of small sailboat and sailing kayak owners who wish to share the sport of sailing in an informal format. Those who wish to participate in these activities should join online at this meetup group website in order to facilitate private messaging and to view and communicate with others on our informative message board.
How is the term small sailboat defined by this meetup group?
A small sailboat is anything that is 18 ft. or less that sails and can be manned and operated by one individual. Examples would include Lido's, Lasers, Hobies, sailing kayaks, Folbots, Kleppers, and Sunfish of course. In addition we also welcome owners of RC Sailboats like the RC Laser who may wish to sail their models in the off season.
One of the biggest differences between our group and a 'yacht' club is that we do not require a collective to operate and maintain our vessels or to tell us what to do.
There is no cost to join.
