Boulder Pk

Distance: 2.6 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 2765 ft

Easy route finding; Class 2 climbing

Boulder Pk is at 6,283ft elevation, this is a strenuous hike but it will be a rather short hike. Boulder Pk is located just west of Pearsonville in the Owens Pk wilderness. I have never done this peak before.

Directions:

From Hwy 395, turn west into Sand Canyon opposite paved Brown Road. The washboard dirtroad heads west over a cattleguard, goes over 1 aquaduct and dips beneath the other. The road gets increasingly rough beyond here. This is where we may need to park. There is more information about this hike in the book: Exploring the Southern Sierra: East Side, by Ruby Johnson Jenkins.

THIS IS A STRENOUS HIKE!!

Awsome Dave! You can probably ride with me to. The peak should't take long to bag, I would like to explore that Boulder Cyn and find that arch site that Jan mentioned.

Im also very interested to check out what jan was speaking of and photograph it :) Id like to talk to you about a 4-5 day trip up Williamson and Tydall. Thats what they recommend online?? I know you want to bag these also, as u have attemps at Williamson already. I was hoping u might want to go with us, we need your expertise??? Id like to see when you think would be a good time or month to go as we are planning everything out now?? We can talk sat if you like? See ya soon Steve!!!

Steve, I would like to do this hike but need to be back to Bakersfield around 6 pm. Do you think we'll be done in time?

We should be done by then. I know we will bag the peak if we get an early start, were meeting at Sierra Gateway at 6am and its only an hour drive from there so I would say we will be hiking by 7ish or a little after. But if you need to take off thats OK and I will continue hiking. If you take off by 4 you will get down there in time so there will lots of time to hike around and explore, I think you will be OK.

I once did some research in Boulder Canyon (SE of Pearsonville). There is a nice arch site with glyphs in there. Not been to the peak though.

I will keep that in mind Jan, I think I will hike in there ( Boulder Cyn) after I bag the peak.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
