Mountain Bike Ride: Windwolves

On Saint Patrick's Day I am leading a four to five mile hike to Windwolves in the morning but am planning on riding the San Emigdo Canyon "after" our hiking trip. You are welcome to join us for the hike but if you are only interested in the mountain bike part of this trip than meet me at the picnic area at the trailhead at 1:15. From the trailhead we will ride up the canyon to the Reflection Pond Trailhead which is about five miles away. The ride up the canyon is on a dirt road which is relatively smooth for the most part but is not smooth enough for a road bike. While I wouldn't rate the ride up the canyon as strenuous it is deceptive and steeper than it looks and will provide a good workout. If time we may hike up the Reflection pond trail which is steep. Make sure you bring a lock to lock your bike. There is a bike rack at the Reflection Pond trailhead. The park closes at 5:00 so we will be back by then. We also might explore another hiking area up another steep ridge if we have time.

I am late replying about the bike path at Windwolves, but it was a lot of fun. The flowers are all so beautiful and I would recommend this bike route.

Normally I am not a biker, but Bill was nice enough to lend me his bike... Thanks Bill, eventhough you set the brake against the rim in order for me to peddle the bike harder and faster than Lance Armstrong....

Scott, I know you love a challenging hike. I thought you would appreciate a really challenging bike ride.

It was a lot of fun. Good workout going uphill & a blast coming down.

I have a time trial race in the morning. My plan is to bike at Windwolves, but ill need to run home to Shafter and switch bikes. I will text if I am running into problems with time getting there.

Nothing deceptive about a steep long hill, but down hill should be fun.
