This day hike is classified VERY STRENUOUS! Please place yourself on the waiting list for approval. It would be helpful if you posted a comment telling us the last hike you did at altitude (10,000 feet or above), and the hardest hike you've done this summer.
From the Eagle/White Chief parking lot, we'll head up the Franklin/Farewell trail towards Franklin Pass. It's about 7 miles south and 4000 feet up (elev 11,700). From Franklin Pass we'll traverse the ridgeline to the top of Rainbow Mountain (12,043).

If we have plenty of time left, we'll also summit Florence Peak (12,432) before heading back down the trail.
Get your Mineral King fun in while you can -- the Mineral King Road gates will be locked on Monday, October 28.
