Mill Creek "Halloween Hike"

  • Oct 26, 2013 · 8:15 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us  on this easy-to-moderate 5.4 mile up and back hike on the popular Mill Creek trail which is located in Kern Canyon. Glenn Gregory will be joining us and leading the hike to Indian Pothole rock. For those looking for a more strenuous hike Bill Baugher will be leading those interested further up the trail towards Squirrel Meadow which could turn out to be a 14 to 15 mile hike with an elevation gain of around 4,500 feet. I am encouraging everyone to dress in Halloween attire. While it is not mandatory to dress up I do think it would be fun if we could all celebrate the spirit of Halloween by dressing up. By dressed in Halloween attire I don't mean everyone needs to be dressed in a full costume. Just something that fits the spirit of the holiday, like, goofy socks, a mask, Halloween tee shirt, or a colorful hat, etc.

For those leaving from Bakersfield we will meet to carpool at the Chevron Station which is located at the intersection of Hwy 178 and 184 at 8:15. For those coming from Lake Isabella area you can meet us at the trailhead around 9:00. If you don't know where Mill Creek trailhead is located the directions are the following.

From Hwy 178 in the lower Kern Canyon, turn onto signed Kern Canyon Rd. (KC Road 214).  Drive 1.5 miles to Mill Creek Trail 31E78.

Look forward to seeing you all as we spend a fun spooky day together hiking in Kern Canyon.

Boo!

The dust reminded me of my hitch hiking across Washington State just after Mt St Helens blew. Excellent Halloween Hike!

We should say a word for Ruby. Nearly the 7th anniversary of her passing.
