Tehachapi Mountain Peak

Tehachapi Mountain Peak is a delightful hike that is approximately 5 miles in length, round trip. The hike almost entirely amongst the many pine and oak trees along the trail.  It has an elevation gain of nearly 2 thousand feet, so this is NOT an easy hike by any means. The trail is well maintained, but because of the elevation gain, it isn't for the coach potato as it can be strenuous enough to take your breath away. If you are a hiker that gets out once or twice a year, please this hike is not for you.

After the hike, which should take no longer than 3 hours, I am going to an amazing German Bakery called Kohnens 125 W. Tehachapi Blvd. #D for a sandwich and maybe for some homemade bread and am inviting all that want to come, the more the merrier.

From Bakersfield or Mojave, take highway 58 to the town of Tehachapi. Exit at highway 202 (exit 148) and head south on what turns out to be Tucker Road. At about 2 miles Tucker intersects Highline Road. Turn right, then continue about a mile further to Water Canyon Road (left turn). Both turns are signed for Tehachapi Mountain Park, which is where you’re heading. Continue on Water Canyon Road to the park entrance. After that, keep right at forks until you reach the end of the road, approximately seven miles from the freeway. Park at or near the road end in a campground near the toilets

Going to have to drop out. Normally I like a late start, but I do volunteer work on Sundays and it's going to overlap so starting at almost 11 won't work for me on a Sunday. Hope to do this one again on a Saturday?

Can I just meet you all at the trailhead? I would be coming in from Elizabeth Lake. What time do you intend to be at the trailhead? I am familiar with the campground.

I have invited 2 people from work and the gf. Haven't heard back yet. I've done this hike before and I know what to expect. If they decide to go I'll push the button and see if you approve.

I do this hike fairly often. Only gotten to the peak twice this year, because, can't find anyone to do it more than once. I"m not usually this early on the trail, but will do my best to be there. Love this hike.
