Hart Park Conditioning Hike: Almost 5 miles

Join us for a late afternoon conditioning hike, finishing in evening twilight and providing unobstructed views of the Bakersfield sunset.

We meet at the Sheriff's shooting range near the "west" entrance to Hart Park.  This one and a half hour hike is moderate because we do keep a good pace as we move up down some hills, a few which are somewhat steep and can be slippery. The total distance is about five miles with an elevation gain of around 1500 feet.

I would not recommend this hike for anyone who is not in shape. You don't have to be in great hiking shape but you do need to have a recent history of regular cardio exercise. So, if you are looking to keep in shape and something to do, join us  at the posted start time.  A headlamp should not be needed but I always like to carry one for emergencies.

Hope to see you out there!

We do conditioning Hikes so we can hike to places like this!

(A place we will be going this spring break in Utah!)

Thanks Tony. I am going to DC for the week to visit with my daughter. I love mountains, but the Capitol has major walking possibilities too, National Parks even.
I hope you all have the best time at Escalante. Love Utah too.

Kathleen, are you looking for the Beginner's hike? This is the moderate to strenuous conditioning hike. We walk 5 miles in an hour and a half with approximately 1200' gain in elevation as you add up all the 300' inclines we climb. The Beginner's Hike, led by Thomas, is on Wednesday, and starts from CALM. They are doing about 2.5 miles.

Kathleen, for the record, after having hiked with you at Gaviota, you will not have any trouble doing any of our conditioning hikes. You rea more than welcome if you are willing to do the drive.
