Beginners' "Hot Night @ Hanglider Hill" Conditioning Hike

  • Jul 2, 2014 · 7:00 PM

Join us this hot Summer night for a beginner's conditioning hike at Hang Glider Hill.  Please note that I have changed the starting time from 6:15pm to 7pm to hopefully avoid the hottest part this 100+ degree day.  We will meet at the dirt area, across the street from California Living Museum on Alfred Harrell Highway at 7:00pm.  This is a slow paced hike with a few good inclines and because of the extreme temperature, the hike will be shortened to 3.2 miles instead of the 4.2 miles we have enjoyed with the recent pleasant weather. All levels are welcome to participate as our hikers have a varied degree of ability.  We support each other and we always have fun!  Bring lots of water.

    I was pleasantly surprised by the weather. My car's temp gauge read 104 when I arrived but, with the breeze, it was very tolerable and actually pleasant as we headed toward the glorious sunset against a clear sky. I really had fun with all of you. Thank you for coming:

    It's just too hot in the evenings to go hiking. My little dogs get konked out before I do.

      It's supposed to be 100° at 7am. They would turn into hot dogs.

    Just a note, if the time doesn't work out for enough people on 100+ days, we also have the option of hiking by the river at 6:15pm. Think about it:}

      Hi Kelly, At this time please don't worry about the donation. I pay Meetup and the previous, original Organizer re-imburses me for the payment from previous payments she collected through Paypal. We should be good for at least a year. If we run out of money, I will send out a memo asking for donations. Thank you for being conscientious!
