Kaiser Wilderness: Twin Lakes and Meander Cave

  • Potter' Pass Trail Head Parking

  • Location From Clovis: Take Highway 168 toward Huntington Lake. At the Eastwood Visitor Station turn right on Kaiser Pass Road (Forest Road 80). Travel 5.1 miles to trailhead.
  • Meet at 5:30 a.m. at Flying J Jack n Box on Merced Ave. and Hwy. 99, 


    Meet at Potters Pass TH at 9:00 a.m.

    Drive past the Potter's Pass Cutoff Trail, this is not the trail head, and continue to the large parking area near Badger Flat campground.

    NOTE: The Potters Pass Trail Head starts at the large, paved parking area on Kaiser Pass Road near Badger Flat Campground.  See photo below.

    Kaiser Wilderness in located north/east of Fresno.  The plan to meet at the Potter's Pass Trail Head Parking at 9:00 a.m. and hike to Upper Twin Lakes.  This lake offers great views, hiking, swimming, and fishing.  We will also explore Meander Cave located just next to the lake.  The round trip hike is app. 7 miles.  

    Twin Lakes is a popular destination so expect there to be other groups in the area.

    Please note that in Kaiser, Dinkey, Ansel Adams and John Muir Wildernesses, the group size is always 15 and no more, whether you are just out for the day or backpacking. This is clearly posted at trailheads but not so clearly posted on their website.

    Good question. I did put Sat at first, then saw Alice's hike for that day. I didn't want to conflict. That's a great hike, too, if you can go.
