Just-for-the-fun-of-it... Join us at 7pm at the Sherrif's pistol range parking lot located at the West end of Hart Park for a special "Supermoon" hike.
This hike is open for all levels and will be about 4 miles. Moonrise will be to the East at 7:44pm, and sunset will be at 7:50pm, so we will hike to the Easternmost side of the hills where we can enjoy unobstructed views of the moon. You may want to bring a flash light because it is getting dark earlier and we may want to pause for more photo ops depending on the participants. As always, bring water.
If you missed the supermoon earlier this summer, you're in luck. This Sunday at 2pm will feature the most super of supermoons in all of 2014.
The scientific name for the event on Sunday is a perigee full moon. The best time to view the supermoon will be just after sunset on Sunday as it rises above the horizon. This creates the illusion of an even bigger moon, making this the best time to take photographs.
