Conditioning Hike: Monday

Join us for a conditioning hike Monday early evening as we hike the foothills near Hart Park. This particular conditioning hike is designed for those who are looking to move up to the moderate hiking level. The hike will last about an hour and a half and will range somewhere between the beginner level and moderate level, depending on who shows up. Hope you can join us for what promises to be a good workout and a great way to start the week!

We train and do conditioning hikes so we can go to places like the ones in this picture. This is a picture of Duck Lake where our group hiked to last summer.

Hi there! Can anyone help with proper way of breathing when hiking? I found my self breathing to hard, and my throat gets very dry. That isn't normal, is it? Thank you!

You also might try chewing gum...If you find yourself breathing too hard you might want to consider going at a bit slower pace.

First don't hike with anyone who's shirt is bright as "plasma". That takes my breath away everytime and I have to stay in front. Kidding aside. When you start out think about your steps. Concentrating on stride and arm swing and see if this helps. Best.

Thank you Cathy! I have a feeling that I will get better, as I go. And no, is not something new.:-)

Everyone has there own "normal". For the most part, I hyperventilate a few times during the first 15 minutes of the hike and then my body figures out what to do. Then, sometimes I'm off and I struggle throughout the hike. You "look" like you move easily and you are usually able to talk-you are a very good hiker. Is this something new or do you struggle most of the time?
