Pinnacles Geology

Hello Hikers,

I thoroughly enjoyed our hike yesterday through the caves and up to and through the Pinnacles themselves.  The  formation of the talus caves and the many faceted rock formations had me questioning the geology that formed these unique and beautiful features.  If you had the same questions and curiosity as I, you might enjoy this short written "video" of the past 60 million years described in geologic terms.  Click here to be taken to the story of how two thirds of a volcano traveled to King City from Lancaster!

Enjoy,

Tony

That is truly an awsome place. Thanks for sharing Tony, it is amazing how a volcano can travel that far. Geology can do some amazing things, glad you all enjoyed the hike, I would like to go back there and do that huge loop trail.

Interesting read. It would be nice to visit that place again in the Spring.
