Southern Sierra Hiking Club Message Board › Bill Jenkins, cofounder of the Kern River Valley Hiking Club passed away yes

Bill Jenkins, cofounder of the Kern River Valley Hiking Club passed away yesterday.

Glenn G.
Bakersfield, CA
Post #: 2
Dear Hikers,

Bill Jenkins the patriarch of this hiking club, passed away yesterday of old age. I remember fondly Bill giving little historical chats of the area we were going to go hiking every other Saturday. Bill would be the lead hiker and the sweep was Ruby, his wife who passed away few years ago and was the author of the two guide books, Hiking the Southern Sierra East Side and West Side.

Bill and Ruby are now hiking together forever.

Those of you who remember the good old days of the hiking club, chime in some of your memories hiking with Bill and Ruby.

Happy Hiking,
Glenn Gregory
