Looking for your soul mate?

We have been invited to take part in a Speed Dating event. Over 60 singles participated at the last speed dating event, and it was an absolute blast! There will be separte sessions, and you are welcome to attend both if you like.

Singles 40 and up will meet at 7:00PM (please arrive by 6:15), and singles ages 21 to 40 meets at 8:30PM (please arrive by 8:15). The cost is $5.00 per person which covers the hall rental fee.

Dress to impress, and you must RSVP to make sure we have enough tables. The entire session will run aout 1-1/2 hours, and you will have 3 minutes to get to know someone in a fun and safe environment. Upon the ringing of a bell, you move to the next available single. Drinks and fellowship will be available afterward.

Hi Elisa, sorry you didn't like the speed dating. It's not for everyone. I will put you at a better table if you want to try it again. We had more gals than guys because a lot of gals bring friends and I can't tell them no. The one guy that was at your table for a brief period was high (on drugs) and he physically threatened a gal last month so he was escorted out. A few of the guys were wondering and some just were hanging at the bar. I was trying to get them to participate but some people were a bit shy. That usually improves the next time. I am planning on another session with equal amount of guys and gals but the cost will be $30.00. This was a $5.00 event and you are always welcome to hang out after and talk to more people in the other section. I'll have more paper on the table for next time. Thanks for you suggestions. Hope you reconsier your posts. Cheryl

    Post continued - part 3...

Even that was too much for one guy who came in just as it was starting. He was standing near my table, so I urged him to sit. As he was sitting, the hostess swooped over and stopped him. Apparently he hadn't registered. They argued a bit over near the registration station and then he stalked out, pausing by me to indicate that he would be hanging around the bar later. What a cheap skate!! Or maybe she just tee'd him off in some way that I don't understand. Anyway, there were a lot of people there, it even overflowed into another side room. Both rooms were noisy. For the most part I could understand what people were saying, but I did have to ask some of the guys to repeat themselves.

    Post continued....

I, myself, only had five men stop and talk to me. Yet, I think it will improve next time. I talked to the organizer and gave her a couple suggestions: number the tables and advise people when signing up that they should bring a business or personal card to hand out. They do not do any post-party matching of people who are interested in each other, so you have to exchange personal info with each other right then and there. There were eight small scraps of paper on the table that were supposed to be shared by everyone at the table. Definitely not sufficient, so bring some cards or your own paper. But then, what do you expect for $5! Milwaukeans do love a bargain, LOL!

I thought it was very poorly organized. Men were wandering all over the place. Some of them were confused on where to go next and some were using the confusion as an excuse to skip around wherever they wanted. I saw one woman at my table get skipped over twice by guys that talked to everyone else at my table!! Rude!!

I had a good time, met one guy who asked for my phone number and may come skating with me on Monday. I'd do it again. It was very well organized.

Hi all, BB Rubbles is a bar but it has a separate side hall where we will be. We will have our own private bartender in the hall totally separate from the main bar. It's perfect for our speed dating. They are famous for the best bloody mary's in town. I highly recommend them. It's not a restaurant. See you all in four days.

Hi, some people are asking a specific count on the ages of 40 and over. Many people don't put their ages on their profiles so I can't give an accurate account. I can estimate at least 60 are RSVPing that look like they will be in the 40 and over catagory. Thanks for understanding. You will have fun and can't beat the price. Most speed dating events are $30 to $50. Ours is only $5.00.

'm interested to know which session everyone will be attending. The 40 and over age group is to register at 6:15, and the 21-40 age group registers at 8:15.

I am only interested in the 40 and over group. Do I have to register with anyone ahead of time, or is just rsvp-ing here on meetup sufficient?

Sounds like fun - and only $5 is a good deal. I live on the far north side. Is anyone willing to drive by and pick me up??
