Level = Intermediate - Advanced

Two models booked for this shoot.

This meetup is for the creative members of the group that would like to have something a bit edgy, really colorful and fun in their portfolio.

Next Thursday the 27th we are heading up to the valley to have a fun body painting shoot. Not the kind of body painting with airbrush and designs of vast landscapes on a models body. This will be a bit messier and more free flowing like the pictures shown above.

Meet at Valley Photo Studio next Thursday at 6:00 for check in and to get things started. We have the studio until 10:00pm so I wont keep you out too late. This studio is an addition to a house so please do not get confused by the location and just follow directions to the address given above. If you need help just visit this link below.

DIRECTIONS

What will you learn with this shoot?

  • Creative Lighting Techniques in a studio setting and how to light a subject against a white background.
  • How to work with a nude model and direct during a complex shoot such as this.
  • How to work with an assistant. We will have a young lady helping out to pour paint on the models and make minor hair and makeup corrections.
  • How to control studio lights with your on camera flash or speedlight.

Why should you attend this shoot?

  • You get to be part of a specialized shoot that would usually cost you 5 time as much to do by yourself.
  • To add some creative and original concept work to your portfolio.

What to bring?

  • Your camera and a tripod if you have one.

This will be a great shoot and we hope that you can join us for it.

Message me with any questions or just ask them below in the comments.

We got to a slow start setting up and getting the models ready but once we got going the shoot was great. Thanks to everyone who shared their pocket wizards so that everyone had a chance to get lots of shots. See you all at the next one. Please remember to post your pics and email photos to the models for their portfolios.

Hello Leonid. Depending on how many photographers attend we will either use 2 sets of 4 channel wireless triggers or slave the studio strobes off speedlights and on camera flashes. I am going to try and split up the set so that we can have two areas to shoot with a model in each area with a divider int he middle but that is to be determined on site.

    See you guys there!!!

Do you guys use pocket wizards for the studio triggers?

    Hey Britt,

We will be rotating shots so that all photogs get a chance to shoot. As far as the lighting setups go, I will have a couple of scenes to set and the rest will be based on anyone who steps up with an idea.

This look cool - how many photogs are working for how long with each model? Do we spend set time and time getting the light the way we like it first? Give me the skinny! B

    Hey Leonid,

Yes man, you can pay at the door. This meetup is not set up as a prepay so if you RSVP there are no conditions. Glenn just let me post this on Sunday. I have posted this shoot in other groups so there will be folks from there attending. ( http://www.meetup.com/L-A-D-P/events/37923102/ ). San Diego is a good distance I understand, but it's gonna be an awesome shoot man. Hope you can make it.

Dear CJ, I live in San Diego and would like to join this event. But I am not sure I can make it. So the question is if I can pay my dues at the event itself? I also don't want to drive to LA without being sure the meetup is on. So far I see only 1 person signed up. Any suggestions?
